Pehredaar Piya Ki: A 9-year-old kid’s instant obsession with a 19-year-old is hard to digest
Sony’s new show ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’ that was hitting headlines for its rather innovatory plot turned into a point of discussion on the web as it stirred up erratic responses from watchers, however, there were a few buffs and watchers with dispassionate perspectives who were on the side of the show.
There was an adequate amount of buzz regarding the new show, thanks to its weird plot of a 19-year-old lass Diya (Tejasswi Prakash) tying nuptial knot to a 9-year-old rajkumar Ratan Singh (Afaan Khan), for defending him from his enemies.
‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’ has splendid sets and has been made in a tasteful way in lavish palaces in the state of Rajasthan and has researched Rajasthani aspects to the fullest–be it the splendour, furnishings, dance or bright dresses. The makers deserve full marks for this.
The show begins with Ratan’s (Afaan Khan) dad Maan Singh (donned by Parmeet Sethi) firing up the holika. But, somewhere in the corners of the regal fort, a plot is being highlighted to murder little Ratan who’s his dad’s royal descendant. Ratan’s mom Padma Singh (Kishori Shahane) comes to be acquainted with the same just last-minute, and tells her hubby that they have to discover a method to defend their kid.
On the very next day, Maan Singh visits his pal to enjoy Holi, where the 9 years old witnesses Diya (Tejaswi Prakash). Until now, the show was going satisfactorily, and the plot made sense. However the series after the gathering of Ratan and Diya confront all logic.
The little boy, thanks to the fairy stories, thinks that Diya is an angel. In an effort to entice her, he begins following her, and the portrayal of the fairy in the tale he has listened to matches precisely with Diya.
According to a contributor Mehak Khurana, who claims to be a diehard fan of Sony’s show Beyhadh, “The kid’s instant obsession with the girl is a bit too hard to digest even though Tejasswi Prakash did look like a million bucks.”
A contributor Disha, who also seems to be a big admirer of Sony Entertainment Television stated her dissatisfaction over the new show saying, “Sony has always been a great channel, and it is depressing to witness such a show being telecast. It demonstrates how the channel is greatly trying firmly to venture into social reasons, which are completely needless.”
